The Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas is a member-led non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of renewable natural gas (biogas, biomethane or ‘RNG’) as a clean, green, alternative and domestic energy resource.  Among its goals, the CRNG is pursuing regulatory reform that will allow non-discriminatory access to California’s natural gas pipelines and realistic gas quality standards that will enable the industry, using thermal conversion technologies, to produce biomethane from organic wastes before these wastes are placed in landfills.

The Department of Public Works Environmental Programs Division (EPD) proactively implements and administers programs in such areas as solid waste recycling and disposal and landfill design. One of EPD’s long-term goals is to research and implement state-of-the-art technologies to convert municipal solid waste into electricity, green fuel, and other useful products.
